Juana Regina Bayala Rodriguez
Juana Regina’s parents were not married at the time of her birth which it reflects in the below record. Prior to her birth, her father Miguel Bayala Flores had been married to Maria Encarnacion Colon Diaz but she died not too long after giving birth to her son Pedro Bayala Colon.
Her son Pedro eventually wound up working in Trujillo Alto’s municipality registering births, marriages, and deaths. You can find his signature on many records. Juana Regina’s parents eventually marry as documented below.
When you have a child who is born out of wedlock and then recognized by their father later in life, whether in or out of wedlock, how do you find their new "identity" and tie it to the birth record.
You identify them as now being legitimate. The child's name is changed after birth and normally the wedding record mentions it. If I remember correctly, the wedding record did that in this case. The record is available online in Book 2 of Marriages in Trujillo Alto. When you look at the index, navigate to "M" as the names are listed by the man's first name. I will also eventually upload the marriage contract he had with his first wife at some point in the future.
Sorry that should have read "The child's name is changed after MARRIAGE and normally the wedding record mentions it."
