Saint Domingue to Cuba Books
One thing I have learned is that people within the Caribbean tend to move around a lot. Whether for land, jobs, enslavement, or dissents. It has happened and quite often. We are aware of the dissents that left Saint Domingue during the years leading up to the independence of Haiti. A theme that many will read and keep going, not realizing that they are seeing a piece of history happening. We see the migrations in places like Puerto Rico when reviewing baptisms, marriages, and death records. While researching in Puerto Rico, I have come across this often. However, I was surprised to discover Saint Domingue to Cuba books that tracked migrations. While I am fully aware that many wound up in Puerto Rico, I nor has anyone else has mentioned the existence of such books.
However, in digging for information, I came across the following books. These books should benefit the Haitian and Cuban genealogists.
Saint Domingue to Cuba
The book collection includes the following: Santiago de Cuba 1803 to 1805, Santiago de Cuba 1806 to 1809, Santiago de Cuba 1803 to 1809, and Baracoa 1804 – 1808. Hopefully this collection will help many in adding content to their family trees. The records are in French so use Google Translate if needed. This post will appear under Haiti Genealogy and Cuba Genealogy.
Good luck! Bonne chance! ¡Buena suerte!
