Cap-Haïtien Marriages, Divorces and Death Records 1843 – 1899
Cap-Haïtien, Haiti church records hold a special place in my heart, and their significance goes far beyond genealogy research. From my earliest childhood memories, Cap-Haïtien was a city spoken of with warmth and admiration in my home.
A Personal Connection to Cap-Haïtien
As a child, I vividly recall the many stories my grandmother, Nieves Antonia, would share about her visits to Cap-Haïtien. She and my mother, Mercedes, along with my aunt Tahalis, would make shopping excursions to the city regularly. According to my grandmother, it was simply a beautiful place to visit. What amazes me to this day is that I can still hear her voice telling those stories as if it were yesterday.
I loved my grandmother dearly and truly miss her. She always had a story to tell, and believed that feeding you was her greatest way of showing love — all while weaving her wonderful tales. Nieves Antonia Rivas (1911–1991) was one of a kind, and it is in her loving memory that this post is dedicated.
