Sociedad Puertorriqueña de Genealogía
The Puerto Rican Society of Genealogy owes its existence to a great genealogist: Mr. Carlos Rafael Cianchini Anselmi (1925-1998). In 1988, this outstanding researcher began to establish contact with people who frequented libraries and archives in order to find their roots. He spoke about the idea of founding an association that would enable the exchange of ideas and information between genealogists.
As a result of this visionary work of Don Carlos Cianchini, on Saturday, April 29, 1989, at three o’clock in the afternoon, the following Founding Members met at the José M. Lázaro Library of the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. :Úrsula Acosta, Ángel Caraballo López, Yolanda Cuevas Ramírez de Arellano, José Echegaray Méndez, Jorge E. Escudero de Acosta, José Marull del Río, Francisco A. Mayo Aguayo, Antonio A. Monteserín, Rafael Enrique Ramos Ortiz y Jaime Alberto Soliván de Acosta.
