Nuestra Señora de los Remedios Transcribed Church Records

Nuestra Señora de los Remedios Transcribed Church Records

When I started off researching and came across the San Juan, Puerto Rico church records, I realized there were many different books coming out of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. The numbering system may not even match what you would expect. With Parroquia Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, which is the second oldest church in the Americas, constructed in 1521, it is not surprising that book numbers would not be sequential or in any real order. When looking at books during this era, the years will provide you a clue if that book is the one you should be inspecting.

Unfortunately, many of the church records are permanently gone for several reasons that I have covered on the website. For the genealogist, the challenge is also reading the images. Some prove to be very difficult. However, one giving researcher, Ivette Izquierdo Garcia, is sharing her transcriptions with the world. We are forever grateful for her contribution to the genealogy community.

Below you will find Ivette’s transcriptions for Baptisms, two files covering 1785 to 1796, and 1793 to 1797 Baptisms. As always, these transcriptions are a great resource for every researcher. Note that you should be using these to potentially locate an individual but you should always go back to the original image to confirm that transcription.

In addition, we want to thank Yvonne Santana for another contribution. She is the same individual who provided everyone with the collection of Loiza church records.

Please feel free to leave a like or thank you note below for both Ivette and Yvonne!
