Saint George Church Records
Wanting to give Saint Vincent some time as this is the first time posting about this island. There are so many islands and content to share but never enough time. At times I wish there was a copy machine so I could split myself into multiple people so I can accomplish all of the things I want to do. I came across the Saint George church records looking for something else. However, once I spotted them, in my usual way, I want to share so that others can find them too. These church records will hopefully provide information sought by many. These records contain those that were enslaved since the book covers an era when slavery existed on the island.
To begin, Saint George consecration occurred in 1820 and it became a parish. Then 155 years later in 1884, Saint George receives the designation of cathedral. You can read about this historical event on images available.
Saint George Church Baptism Records
The documentation then leads to an index of baptisms with surnames and what years that a baptism occurred. This index definitely makes it easier to locate ancestors. However, there is something to note. While the church did not consecrated until 1820, there are baptisms in this index going back to 1765 and ends in 1870. This means that the family historian should definitely read up on the history of Saint Vincent to understand what may have occurred to the church.
The index is then followed with entries that start in 1765 and ends in 1837. The information is typed so it should make it much easier to read.
To continue beyond 1837, you will need to review the next item and the 1837 continues with image 283. The entries end on image 551. I provide these number to help you navigate the collection.
Church Marriage Records
The available marriage records follow the format as the baptism records. We start off with an index that covers marriages from 1765 to 1870. The index is also follow with the actual entries that begin in 1765 and ends in 1870. Again, I am providing a start and an end so that it is easier to navigate the book.
Saint George Church Burial Records
The burial records for Saint George follow the same concept. The index begins on image 680 and ends on image 724. The years covered for burial runs from 1765 to 1855 where the images end on image 930.

Since this is my first post covering Saint Vincent, I will explain that no matter the island, you will find records for that particular island on the menu.
